I have just installed KDE 3.5.4 bundle on my sister’s computer and there appears to be a problem. When I go to Control center it says that I have KDE 3.5.2 installed and when I try to start Konqueror it does not start at all and when I start it from Konsole i get this error:
konqueror: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkdeinit_konqueror.so: undefined symbol: _ZN9KLineEdit13focusOutEventEP11QFocusEvent

I think this may be the problem: kdelibs packages have remained at 3.5.2 version. And when I rey to upgrade them I get this error:
file /usr/share/mimelnk/application/x-mplayer2.desktop from install of kdelibs-common-3.5.4-1.1.20060mdk conflicts with file from package kmplayer-0.9.0-3mdk

    Hello Jure.

We’ve checked on our end and kdelibs seem to be OK.

You should try ” urpmi –auto-select ” (as root, without the “”). If that doesn’t do it, uninstall kmplayer, do “urpmi –auto-select” and install kmplayer again.

You can look for help in Mandriva Expert (http://expert.mandriva.com) or the Club forums (http://forum.mandrivaclub.com).

    Cheers!

    Alex

I did uninstall kmplayer in order to get kdelibs properly installed. But then the problem is that since kmplayer-0.9.0-3mdk also contains the file x-mplayer2.desktop (which was added into KDE between KDE 3.5.3 and 3.5.4) you can’t install it if you have kdelibs 3.5.4 installed. So the solution would be to either remove the conflicting file from kdelibs 3.5.4, which would be safer for people who already have kmplayer installed and upgrade to KDE 3.5.4 bundle and so don’t get the same problem of kdelibs not installing. Or it should be removed from kmplayer, you bump the revision of kmplayer and set the dependencies so that when you try to install KDE 3.5.4 it installes the new kmplayer before this.

I hear that the KMPlayer rpm made by mandrivaclub.nl doesn’t suffer from this problem. I’m not sure but I think that they have removed these .desktop files from the spec to build their rpm: x-mplayer2.desktop, x-ms-wmv.desktop, x-ms-wmp.desktop en x-ms-wma.desktop.

I have exactly the same error message as Jure :
symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkdeinit_konqueror.so: undefined symbol: _ZN9KLineEdit13focusOutEventEP11QFocusEvent. So after having updated KDE via kiosk, konqueror doesn’t work anymore. Sad, isn’t it ?
