LinLux isn't necessarily the one to blame, NGI refusing to sign a proper partnership deal between ROSA and Mandriva, where ROSA also would pay annual royalties is what started this..
LinLux blocking the refinancing from NGI (which would increase their share in Mandriva to more than the 65% required for complete control) isn't that odd at all.

I love the system except for the fact I bought two copies, for an extra rate on their website, and cannot have use of one, and then, administration over my accounts and the video player I bought with the system does not allow me to play European/English DVD's.

I would prefer that they get into touch with the people that pay their finances and do not allow a credible response.

Having said that, a little more concern for the paying customer, and a credible response, and not one from someone that is an apple seller selling pears - then it would knock Microsoft out of the window, as long as it could get a plug-in TV card that works from go - without buying five to see they do not operate, as some have. All else is better for me.

Ha, so democracy is not working in France.

A 'minority' shareholder says no.

...and the sheep have to follow in minority rule.

Ah it is the new Europe, lead by foreign dictators,as we ourselves in Britain.

Cry freedom for liberty, take the banks to the people and do not bow to the bankers.

1. Build a dynamic portal (homepage), like Yahoo! MSN or buy and revamp Excite.

2. Assuming Microsoft would agree. Offer a paid bundle, of Mandriva and Windows. People are afraid of change, use buzzwords like compatibility, free. If Microsoft can't agree to a bundle, build an alliance with Windows like React OS. React is having problems with participating code writers and debuggers. Point being, if people are assured they'll be able to run their Windows programs (which most they can already, but they don't know that) they'd be more comfortable making the switch.

3. Press for an agreement with a retailer like Best Buy, free Mandriva setup disk w/ compatible machines.

4. Take special interest in wooing Mac users. After years of overpaying Apple, we're in a recession, the people who aren't die hard Macheads will switch.

5. Never underestimate a person's desire to be part of a team. That's what Linux really is, a team, a community. Windows is a prison of bloatware, viruses and crashes. Mac's prices are unjustified and unrealistic for lower middle class, and lower class people.

Sure, go the way of Android and make it available for every device, but keep it open source so people can help develop and you don't fall in the money trap.
Take care of the needs of the customer and they will will stay your customer.
Learn from Gnome3 and other distributions, that you can't just force your will on everyone just because you think it's better for them. Stay flexible and useful and people will use it.

Hello
I, or more me and my family (me, my wife and two daughters), am using Mandriva Powerpack onwards from 2006 till now and I must say it is amazing how natural it feels to work on this desktop for us.
As I am forced to work on a Windows machine for my work I am more and more surprised that you are more or less forced to use and upgrade components for which there are better open source alternatives.

I think a good step for Mandriva could be to develop a possibility to use Mandriva on a tablet, it will give the freedom and the extra dimension with the new Mandriva sync option in the cloud to easily switch between your desktop computer which is mostly found in a room or in the attic (static) and your tablet which you can take wherever you go. I think it would be a big plus and could give Mandriva the extra features which are not available on something like Windows 7. The tablet will be the easiest way to get access to new customers as they all know the tablet brings something new as an OS and also a new way of handling the data.

Good luck and wisdom to you all,
greetings from a happy Mandriva user

If only there was one Linux distro that installed easily and functioned right away with the basics :
X server, networking, drives. I tried several versions and everyone is plagued, nothing works
at least 80% , and fixing the problems is always a pain in the ass. With fedora, it was the wifi module
that someone forgot to add support in the kernel. With Ubuntu, I can't use my mobile (3G), so no internet.
I can't find a repository to download packages using another OS, just lots of bla bla bla about
how many there are .... Mandriva worked well with the live CD, but after installing from
the DVD, there's no way to get the Xserver running (not to mention the mess caused by grub
in my system disk). And so it goes ... To fix linux I have to use windows (merde!!! @^#&*)

It seems like the end is near for ALL linux distros. Perhaps android will fill in.

Pour les français, je dois dire que j'aimait bien ce système quand il etait Connectiva.
Maintenant je suis deçu.
