We are glad to announce that a new repository ‘restricted’ is available for public testing!
Actually, most of the repository packages are forked from the PLF repository. If you want additional codecs, programs with “bad” licenses, etc, you should look at this repo.
You can easily add the repository from here.
Update: this is beta version, so please be patient on errors and mistakes.

Can you please add ‘restricted’ for Cooker as well?

What is this ‘bad’ word you use here ?
What programs are you referring to, as having a bad license ?
I hope you’re not referring to nvidia, because I can’t live without accelerated 3d support,
and at the moment, no one else is offering such drivers.
thx
I’m sorry, it’s an offtopic post, but… how to install Mandriva 2011 to the computer without usb and dvd-rom? The computer has Internet, CD-ROM, and there is installed Debian 6.0.0.2. I’ve downloaded 2011.iso, but… how?????
if you want to install from the web you can try to update an old version of mandriva 2010.2 because that one is available on CD.
So first install fron CD mandriva 2010 and udate to 2010.2
then use this link http://kenobi.mandriva.com/~abarakin/mdv-2010-2011.sh
best regards

No, it is possible to install Mandriva 2011 using the boot.iso from
ftp://mirror.fis.unb.br/pub/linux/MandrivaLinux/official/2011/i586/install/images/ (i586, 32 bits)
ftp://mirror.fis.unb.br/pub/linux/MandrivaLinux/official/2011/x86_64/install/images/ (x86, 64 bits)
or the same relative URL from any other official mandriva mirror.
This image will permit mandriva 2011 installation from internet (network install), using the same traditional mandriva installer used in the previous releases.
Ops, (x86, 64 bits) means (x86_64, 64 bits)
Thanks a lot, I did this.
I think, 1 CD is a good thing, it forces the developers to cut the unnecessary things off.
I’ve already installed Mandriva 2011, but…
How to install Mandriva from flash drive??? I copied it using dd, but the computer doesn’t boot it. It looks like BIOS can’t find the bootable image.
Hello,
If it manages to boot to the initial boot screen for selecting whether to boot the live image or install, when you make the selection the screen goes black for a long time, let it go like that and you’ll see the image will boot.
It happened to me and I thought it wasn’t working and tried again and again with different boot options. Just letting it go for more than I thought it was necessary worked.
I used the liveUSB creation utility in Kubuntu.
In the cpomilcated world we live in, it’s good to find simple solutions.
