A message from secteam

Hi folks,

on behalf of the Mandriva Security Team, this is just a short reminder that as per Mandriva Lifecycle policy, the Mandriva 2010.1 and 2010.2 distribution has reached the end of their Desktop support. They will be supported in Base support mode for additional 6 months.

Good to know. So, when exactly is Mandriva 2011 due?

Suggestion: A search box on this blog will be very helpful to visitors.

    Cheers

    Hello,
Assuming 2011 is released by end of August wouldn’t it be worth to have a longer support period for 2010.1 and 2010.2? Personally I feel I will stay with 2010.2 for a month before making the switch.
Btw, will there be possibility to upgrade from 2010.2 or only a fresh install is planned?
    Regards,
    Antonio

How comes that 2010.0/1/2 are no more supported when there are not even 1 year old ?!?!
    This is ridiculous !
Former versions used to be supported for at least two full years… It looks like I’ll have to switch to another distro than Mandriva, since I’m not one to “upgrade” (with all the bad consequences it involves) my system every year.
Plus, 2011.0 is not even out and 2010.2 is already no more supported !!!
This is very poor practice from Mandriva :-(

  4. Raymond says:

I agree with Terry. You dont even have a new version out yet, and you’re ending support for your current one???? What kind of practice is that???? VERY bad practice indeed. Good thing theres Mageia….

  5. Svetlana Semavina says:

According to Mandriva 2010.2 lifecycle here: http://www.mandriva.com/en/support/lifecycle/
2010.2 was released on July, 8, 2010, but it is mistake: Mandriva 2010.2 was released in the end of december of 2010 (December, 23 or smth like that.) So Mandriva 2010.2 Desktop support shouldn’t be finished right now.

  6. Roger says:

    * : Mandriva Linux 2010.2 is an incremental update to Mandriva 2010 Spring and will have the same lifetime as 2010 Spring.

  7. drp says:

this new release is taking forever to come out and now your ending support for 2010.2?? doesnt really make sense..i hope the wait is worth it because i love mandriva =]

  8. Roger says:

    Hi folks,

due to a huge number of requests, Mandriva Board has decided to extend full support for Mandriva 2010.1 and Mandriva 2010.2 distributions for additional 6 months.

  9. Adrian says:

Glad to know you are extending cycle. It takes me about a year to get a new set up working how I want -transferring k mail data etc (it never seems to import).

  10. JosH says:

Really, what kind of management do you guys have. The counter for the next release seems to run backwards, and you decide to stop support ? Yes, I read that you have listened to the complaints, but nevertheless I am seriously looking to other distributions now. I used to be a paying customer… Have fun.
