Mandriva Linux 2010 Alpha 2 is now available on public mirrors. This Alpha is available only through Free version, 32 and 64 bit DVDs.
Despite our planning modification (if you didn’t heard it already, Mandriva Linux 2010 will be released on November 3rd, 2009), we were able to
provide this alpha 2 release sooner than expected.
Among many things, the following components are been updated in Alpha 2 :
- KDE 4.3 RC 3
- GNOME 2.27.5, including new client-side window GTK+ feature (help to
prevent flickering)
- Kernel 2.6.31 rc4
- Xorg 1.6.3 with latest driver for Intel graphic chipset (should
improve performance and stability)

This alpha its really good, incredible fast.
Quite stable as well, ive been using the cooker since the alpha 1 and now ive just updated do alpha 2, i did like the kernel 2.6.31, and the graphics performance its quite better now.

I have installed this twice and cannot get past the initial part where it tries to dial home for the sign up as a member dialogue.
Are you setting IPV6 as being on as default? If so then many people will have trouble with this not connecting to the internet. ipv6 should be OFF by default.
SUSE have started to set ipv6 as on as default and you cannot surf the web until you turn it OFF.
Alternative with no alternatives? – Some people in open source -and Linux-community are terrible – they seem to want just one alternative: linux and to destroy all other alternatives, hate those like sick people do.
Lucky that Linus Torvalds too has recently said that that MS-hate is sick.
Close-minded open source folks seem to just want one java-like, one flash-like, one-OS-linux – and hate others, especially MS – discousting to read all that silly hate and pure lies, to demand alternatives, and then hate them and love just one. Blame on yourself!
Gnome and KDE(4 too) are just that old style UIs, they are so windows-look-a-likes – why open source folk is so diabled to create something really new? Now in KDE4 those plasmas are just ruining the whole idea of Nepomuk and semantic desktop – it’s gonna be another disaster, going whole in wrong direction. Really semantic desktop, configurable and capable to work for one person and for communities (for company networks and social communities to connect information and functions) would be great – but open source world just can’t design and do it right way : ( Open source folks are just wasting the innovation energy in hating MS so blindlesly – Apple and MS will again go ahead and linux desktop is gonna stay stucked on it’s raging hate to others.
