This post was mentioned on Twitter by caostheory: Mandriva has released Mandriva Linux 2010. http://bit.ly/3p3FYj...

  10. Jordan says:

Mandriva (One) 2010.0 is the first Mandriva I’ve tried. It’s also the first Linux distribution that’s really had me blown away by just how beautiful Linux can be! I adore what Mandriva’s done with the KDE 4 desktop! (It’s the first time I’ve used KDE 4, as I usually prefer less resource intensive LiveCD distributions with Xfce… I don’t think I could go back now though!) As for an out-of-the-box experience, Mandriva has yet to disappoint! (Except for something that turned out to be my fault…)
I’ll be trying openSUSE 11.2, Fedora 12, and PC-BSD 8.0 when they’re released, but I find it unlikely that I’ll use them in favour of Mandriva 2010. Congratulations to the Mandriva developers and community for producing a wonderful release!

    Fantastic news
    Will go down version now
Why not count the version 4.3.3 of kde in this release ?

    smartdesktop ?

nepomuk is not activated by default

    i send a bug report :
    https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=55092

anne’s answer : nepomuk is not well polished today

    • ennael says:

That was the answer during integration. Time was needed to get it in a polish way. Now it’s done but smart desktop needs to be configured well to fit users needs.

  14. Ivo says:

” All 2010 isos are hybrid isos.”

    mandriva-linux-free-dual-2010.iso – is NOT HIBRID !!?

    • Damien says:

As the Free dual is dual arch, we cannot hybrid it.. You can use the all.img if you want to do a USB installation through network like on a Free dual.

  15. Patrick says:

Did the full distribution upgrade. It all worked properly,
and the new KDE and operating system is functioning
    quite efficiently.

Good Work! I think its a little quicker clock speed
    wise too.

  16. Lincoln Rickwood says:

Many thanks for all the hard work put into creating another fantastic release.

Given that Windoze 7 basically looks like warmed over KDE 4.0 I guess we can now show our Windows-using colleagues what Windows 8 will one day look like. :)

  17. toxision says:

Congratulations to a new fantastic milestone. Even i’ve did a step backwards from 64bit to 32bit (due some RAM lacks) it’s unbelievable fast now. Everything looks refreshed and “young” :)

  18. EchoBravo says:

Since Mandrake 8.0, I have never been disappointed with each new release of Mandriva…keep up the great work Mandriva…always a step ahead of the other distos.

  19. I am at present typing this from within Mandriva 2010. I am impressed with the slick KDE interface. What is more, the Mandriva Firewall rocks big time.

Mandriva warned me of a port scanning attack on my machine and asked what I wanted to do in simple layman terms. I have tried many Linux distributions but this is a first one for me where a distribution warns me of an imminent attack.

Good work Mandriva team. Keep on rolling such slick, secure, user friendly versions of Mandriva.

  21. david says:

Does KDE 4.3.3 will be available into this release ?

  22. anu says:

Mandriva never worked well on my hardware before, but this 2010 One LiveCD has gotten things right from the get go. I am installing Mandriva on a partition as I type. I might be saying this too soon, but this release looks very promising. Great job by the developers here in what must have been a tough year for Mandriva.

Another LiveCD to check out which was equally impressive (and faster) on my laptop (thinkpad T43) was the Chakra LiveCD based on Arch. Even though in Alpha, it looks to be quite polished. I wish Mandriva and Chakra great success in coming months.

  23. Daniel says:

I have been using Mandriva on my Dell desktop since 2008.0, I am a GNOME fan and Mandriva is by far one of the best GNOME desktops available. Keep up the excellent work guys!! I have tried other popular distros just to see if they can measure up to Mandriva’s polish and beauty, not even close folks. I just installed 2010.0 yesterday, the default GNOME desktop is absolutely fantastic, Can’t wait to read other reviews, but this Mandriva fan (and user) gives it a definite thumbs up!

  24. Patrick says:

    Mandriva 2010 continues to impress.

I’m wondering how I can take advantage of the Sugar
desktop option to help children? I know it was included
with a lot of attention to Netbooks as well.

Some little quirks, but my experience with linux throughout
the years led me to be a little patient. Then expand and
make sure all repositories are operational. At that point
it was working fine. I usually use Linux Mint most the
time because I can easily get around it. Well, I found
myself glued to the new KDE 4 and the new Mandriva
setup, I’ve been using it all the time the past few days.
Only hitch is I still have problems on some flash sites
with some unusual locking, but if I right click and find
a way around it I’m fine. Somewhat inconvenient, but
    it works.

I’m thinking about just buying the Powerpack to use
personally and show off to possible customers at out
    business.

    Good Work Guys and Gals,

    awesome distro!!!!!!!!!!!!!the best right now….period.

  26. Ben says:

It’s not clear to me, and doesn’t appear to be mentioned, what desktop environments are available on the “Free dual arch” CD. Gnome, KDE, or both?

  27. Ben says:

Alright, thanks! That’s what I needed to know. ^.^

  29. Lloyd says:

I’ve been using Mandriva since Mandrake 10 and this is the best one yet. Only problemm is that audacity and wine dont work at all, but not to worry i’ve installed from 2009.1. I agree with Lincoln wath out windoze you’re just about to lose the race if you have not already.

Well done to all the folks at Mandriva
